Pacific Heights / San Francisco, California
What started as a light remodel with an accelerated schedule morphed into a top-to-bottom redesign that took several years to complete. Having undergone an unfortunate Gothic update a while back, the house needed to be stripped, reimagined and rebuilt from the inside out. We worked with Richard Beard Architects to bring the home to an updated version of its original grandeur, reconsidering room layouts, upgrading finishes, replacing systems and crafting myriad details to create a cohesive whole.
The interiors reflect the passions of the owners from equestrian sports to entertaining, from collecting antiques to playing vintage computer games. Five floors provide ample space for living and entertaining, starting with a wine cellar and state-of-the-art workout room on the lower levels and moving up to gracious public rooms, guest accommodations, and a library and principal suite, topped with a spectacular rooftop lounge, dining space and outdoor kitchen overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. An exquisite rear garden conceived and executed by Jarrod Baumann of Zeterre Landscape Architecture finishes the update beautifully.
